Letter to Hon’ble Prime Minister from Shri Punyanand Jha

Matri Sadan is an spiritual Organization situated at Kankhal, Jagjeetpur, Haridwar has been working for the upliftment of society through pragmatic spiritualism. The objectives of the institution are:

To work towards elimination of all sorts of social evils and corruption prevailing in society through its Sanyasins who are established in soul consciousness.
To uphold the Vedic Philosophy and tradition of India and to enlighten the entire humanity by igniting the soul consciousness in each individual so that each one sees the Light of Truth.
To protect, promote and strive for conservation of the environment and prevent all sorts of polluting activities, both internal and external (including air, water, sound, etc).
To encourage public servants, who are working for bringing transparency, discipline, sincerity and accountability in their respective spheres.
Matri Sadan is working incessantly towards the fulfilment of these objectives through its Sanyasins and devotees, under the guidance of His Holiness Shri Gurudeva Swami Shivanand. Its Sanyasins and devotees have taken up such issues as Ganga Pollution, Air Pollution, sound Pollution and Corruption in Public Offices, government & judiciary and fought bravely through truthful, peaceful and non-violent means within the framework of the constitution. Wherever the situation has demanded, Matri Sadan has not hesitated to uphold the principles of Universal Justice by way of adopting Satyagraha.

At the end of February 1998, just on the eve of Mukhya Kumbha Snana (the main auspicious bath of Kumbh Mela) during the Kumbh Mela period, Matri Sadan express his deep concern over the pollution problem caused by six stone crushers at Jagjeetpur . But The stone crushers oweners pressurised the concernd authority and took him in favour by using bribes. As it happens the corrupt officer played a manipulating game of language and tried to throw dust in our eyes. Thus our efforts could not work, and the
Govt. of Uttarakhand has started mining, polluting Ganga directly by hundreds of vehicle and heavy equipments destructing the Ganga Valley environment in Kumbh Mela area.
This mining was closed by UP Govt. but the nexus of corrupt officials, mafia and politicians restarted this mining and stone crushing and is polluting the ganga and no action is taking place by the concernd authority , as now THE GANGA IS THE NATIONAL RIVER .
Kumbh Mela area has been shortened and false and forged documents are provided to support this forgery.
Due to this attitude of the authority, MATRI SADAN has taken step against the authority by indefinite fast .
Br. Dayanand of Matri Sadan,Haridwar is on indefinite fast from last 101 days and Br. yajnanand is on fast from last 89 days. But still no action has been taken by the authorites in favour of MATRI SADAN . So due to this negligence and to strengthen their disciples now H. H. Shri Gurudeva is on fast from last 4 days.
I request you to take action in favour of MATRI SADAN and help the whole humanity by saving the Ganga river..

Sir, I am a student studying engineering. I am in my 3rd year of studies and am working towards ‘Saving our sustainable habitat and environment’ together with various organisations and NGO’s from past 2 years. We are members of 4 organisations, assisted by a force of over 600 youths and over 300 working professionals in 3 countries in south asia.

Your concern seems sensitive and positive. I hope we can help you on this to whatever lenghts, but there are some queries i would like to be answered before lending our full support to you.

    * What action does matri sadan(your organisation), want from the centre government? (you are talking about 1998, what is the present scenario?)
    * Are their any proofs of bribery as mentioned?
    * What is the status regarding the Kumbh Mela at this time in Haridwar?
    * What is the concern of matri sadan and the other people who are causing harm to the environment? What is the solution that you are proposing?

+ It would be helpful if you would provide us with any other information regarding this subject or any other similar concerns. Would expect your feedback soon.

Reply: Since Ganga has become National River, all Stone mining in Ganga must be banned and all programmes to make Ganga clean must be implemented without corruption. Scientists must take the lead not the bureaucrats.

(you are talking about 1998, what is the present scenario?)

Reply: In 1998, the dispute area of Ajeetpur and Missurpur were in Kumbh area, now in 2010 Kumbh these areas are excluded to facilitate Stone Mining in Ganga and Forest land.

      * Are their any proofs of bribery as mentioned?

Reply: Yes, indirect because whenever we raise the issue from Chief Minister to downwards….. they crush our movement with all possible force.

      * What is the concern of matri sadan and the other people who are causing harm to the environment? What is the solution that you are proposing?

Report: Support our cause and fax and email to CM of Uttarakhand and PM

    In response to your reply:
We all know that ganga is a national river and there are many organisations to protect ganga, one of the most prominent being ‘GANGA BASIN ATHORITY’. What do such organisations have to say for this initiative and cause of yours?

Secondly, you said that scientists should take the lead and not the bureaucrats. Is their any detailed report or any agenda made by the scientists in refrence to this as mentioned by you? Please could you upload their report on your website or on your blog for all the readers and enthusiasts?

You said that all mining activity in the ganga should stop. Is mining the only way to stop pollution in ganga? I think we should look at the larger and the bigger picture, there are much more than 3000 industries who are dependent on ganga for their working, employing more than 4,00,000 people. Mining is a very small fraction which causes pollution, above all it is a basic necessity for the growth and development of a country or a state. We together should stand to make a big difference to the ganga, is stopping mining the basic mean?

How will increasing the Kumbh Area till ajitpur, misarpur(projected as a big demand by your organisation) prevent ganga’s pollution? Again is their any report, agenda which shows the conclusion to this concern?

Lastly, our administration (both at the centre and state level) have adopted so many means for preventing pollution in ganga, their intensions being very noble and just. I’m sure they would be more than glad to lend a helping hand to private organisations for such a noble cause. Is their a rift between the administration and matri sadan on this?

With due regards and sincerity for the cause of river Ganga.
